I have been using and paying for Dashlane for 10 years. I’m on Apple devices. Dashlane in my opinion continues to improve and provides me with a superior level of performance. I have never had any issues with it, ever. Sad to hear that some of you have left Dash due to Windows and Android issues.

Password manager Dashlane has disclosed that "fewer than" 20 users on the personal subscription plan had their encrypted vaults downloaded following a brute-force attack launched by an unknown party.

I reached out to Dashlane for further clarification and Jordan Fylonenko, its senior director of corporate communications, confirmed that “there is no evidence that Dashlane’s internal system has been impacted.” Fylonenko also advised that Dashlane has now published an official security advisory and customer FAQ, which provides “additional details of the incident, investigation status, impact to user accounts, and steps we’ve taken to protect customers.”

Some criticised the company for a lack of public comms about the attacks. Aside from the direct account suspension emails and some replies to users on social media, Dashlane has not disclosed the attack through any high-visibility channels.

For attackers to obtain the decrypted vault contents for those accounts, they would still have to crack the master password. Dashlane makes this process difficult by using an algorithm known as Argon2. It dramatically slows down and intensifies the process of converting the plain-text master password into a cryptographic hash.
